Aloha!! This is a strikingly beautiful sea-side community located on the West Coast of The Big Island of Hawaii. In the Hawaiian languageAbout Kona, Hawaii, kona means leeward or dry side of the island, as opposed to ko‘olau which means windward or the wet side of the island. The population was 11,975 as of the 2010 census. In 1950 there were 25,571 visitors to the International Airport here. In 2007 there were  3,216,642 visitors. The airport is located north of Kona and is only a 10 minute drive from Downtown. Flights are directed away Old Airport Kona Hawaiifrom the town to prevent sky traffic so you’d never know we had this many visitors. This community is oceanfront  about mid-way between the northern and southern-most parts of the “Big” Island, otherwise known as “Hawaii“. The Hawaiian chain of islands are the most remote populated islands in the world, 2,285 miles to the nearest land mass. Kona town is at the About From the water to Kona Hawaiibase of Hualalai volcano (6300 feet above sea level), which is at the base of Mauna Loa (13,678 feet above sea level). This community was originally founded by King Kamehameha as his seat of government. Prior to his rule this was primarily a fishing village and has now become one of the premier vacationAbout Downtown Kailua Kona locations in the world. The weather has a large role in this.

The thing About our town that everybody is attracted to is The climate, it is tropical with warm temperatures year around. The coldest month is January. The average high temperatures in January is 82 Ali'i Drive all about Kona Hawaiithe low temperatures in January is 67 degrees. The hottest time of year is in August with highs reaching 87 degrees and lows will dip down to 72. The humidity level ranges from 50% to 70% year around with an average rainfall of only 11.15 inches annually making it pretty dry compared to other areas of the Big Island. Typically mornings are clear as cloud formation increases from the top of Hualalai volcano and and works it’s way closer and closer to Kona Town. Every once in a while the rain clouds hit Kona with some pretty impressive down pours.

Number one vacation locationKona is the home of the World renown Iron man World Championship Triathlon. Kona is also known for the Kona Coffee Festival and the International Bill fish Tournament.
Local Shopping in Kona includes; K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Costco, Target, Ross, Sports Authority, Macys, Petco, Office Max, and 100s of small Ma and Pa retail stores. Fast food chains include; McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, KFC, Subway, Taco Bell, Panda Express, Taco Delmar, Dairy Queen, Jack in the Box, Starbucks and LL Hawaiian.
