The Hawaiian chain of islands are the most remote populated islands in the world, 2,285 miles to the nearest land mass. The town is at the base of Hualalai volcano (6300 feet above sea level), which is at the base of Mauna Loa (13,678 feet above sea level). This community was originally founded by King Kamehameha as his seat of government. Prior to his rule this was primarily a fishing village and has now become one of the premier vacationlocations in the world. The weather has a large role in this.
